With God, ALL things are possible…

“With God, ALL things are possible.”  I’ve had to repeat that statement several times since leaving the doctor’s office today, because honestly Eddie and I left with heavy hearts.

Dr Kanos is a very sharp, to-the-point kind of doctor, and we appreciated his honesty and thoroughness very much.   I will admit though that hearing some of his explanation of the aneurysm was tough.  He explained to us that this is not your typical normal aneurysm.  It is a very unusually shaped aneurysm and it involves three different arteries in the brain.  The only way I can think to describe it is that it looks somewhat like a three-way stop with a very broad center, and that is putting it as simplistic as I can.

So…how is it going to be fixed?  That’s the part that was very discouraging.  Our doctor is not sure if this aneurysm is fixable.  I (MM) have to undergo another test and after that is completed our doctor will be able to tell whether surgery is even an option.  He explained that it would be pretty tedious surgery because they would have to go in and somehow reconstruct the three arteries where the aneurysm is located.  So we asked if surgery turns out not to be an option then what happens then?  Basically nothing.  It would be like living with a time bomb in my head….at least that’s the way it seems to me.

We really need a miracle.  Eddie and I are in the process of trying to adopt a child at this very moment.  If this aneurysm is not fixable then we know adoption won’t even be an option.   Plus I don’t want to live in fear and walk on eggshells the rest of my life….we know God doesn’t want that either.   We are refusing to accept the possibility that there may be nothing that can be done.  We serve a BIG God who can do BIG things.  We know that nothing is impossible with Him, and He can heal this in an instant.  This is where radical faith comes in…..believing God for COMPLETE healing!!!  He can do this!!!  And I believe He WILL do this!  Will you just please pray that this aneurysm will be fixable?  Pray specifically for wisdom for our doctor, pray that God will help us trust Him 100% in and through this, and pray God will receive incredible glory from everything that is done.  We truly covet your prayers through this, because Satan so wants to discourage us and for us to settle and be content to live with this for the rest of my life….nope, not an option.  Our God is AWESOME and He’s about to show us yet again just how incredible He is!!!  He is the GREAT PHYSICIAN!!

  12. James & LeAnn Says:

    Eddie & Martha Marie,

As I read this I am reminded of similar feelings we experienced in talking with specialists for Zac. We heard things that were contrary to what we wanted and needed to believe for him, and prayed that we would when the time was right to find the doctor he needed. In God’s timing, he was found. In God’s timing so will yours. You are not just resting in His hands, you are in His grip! You don’t journey this alone, we are continuing on with you also.

    James

I am claiming this verse (John 11:4):

When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”

God Be Glorified Today 24-7 through Healing in Martha Marie’s Head!! We love you all. Love, Wissa

  21. Beth Says:

Wow. It’s tough to hear news like that, but I truly believe God will use this for His glory. I’ll keep praying for you guys!

  22. Jaclyn Says:

Martha Marie, I believe God is already being glorified through you. Your faith is a testimony to your relationship with Him and what He has already done in and through your life. We are praying and believing!

  23. Stephanie Reid Says:

Martha Marie and Eddie, my eyes are full from reading all your blogs and the comments.

I just put Hope to nap with a Selah :) cd and was cuddling with her to the song, “All my Praise”: “I will follow You through green pastures and sing ‘Hallelujah’ to Your name. I will follow You through dark disasters and sing,’Hallelujah’ through the pain…even in the valley, I will say…’Holy…my God, You are worthy of all my praise….’ I was crying for you guys and praying for you. I don’t believe that this is a “dark disaster,” MM and Eddie, but I believe our bodies are broken (and yours is a bit fragile at present)… but right now, though doctors’ diagnoses may seem discouraging, God is Elohim! He is our Creator and Sustainer and is fully able to heal! He is Jehovah-Rapha, “the Lord who Heals.”

We are believing this with you and praying for your healing.

Experiences like this create great strength in beautiful people like you who look to Him alone for help. Jm. 1:2-3. And they strengthen the faith of everyone around you…observing, waiting, hoping, hurting and loving you. We know that you guys are looking up…and we are with you.

“May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble! …May He send you help from the sanctuary, and support you from Zion! …May He grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your counsel! We will sing for joy over your victory.” from Psalm 20:1-5

We love you and are praying. Stephanie (for Scott too)

  24. Brandi DeCriscio Says:

Remember the saying “Don’t tell God how big your problems are. Tell your problems how big your God is.” As I read through your blog today, that is what popped into my mind. As humans, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and discouraged; As Christians, we have a peace that others will never know. You have handled things with such grace that God is already being glorified. You could have dissolved into a million pieces and given up weeks ago - but you haven’t. You have continued to thrive and believe. That is such a testimony. I am praying for you and Eddie, as well as your family. I believe God is going to make you living proof that He still perform miracles. We just have to believe in Him. Love u.

  25. Abbi B. Says:

I hope you know I am sending you the biggest cyber-hug I can… *hugs M&M*. Then let me remind you what God has to say about this sort of thing (as if you didn’t already know…) :

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you HOPE and A FUTURE.” (Jer. 29:11)

M&M, these aren’t just words of comfort, they are God’s PROMISE. Know that He loves you and that you are His creation and his true love. This is HIS promise to YOU. Oh, and always know that I love you and you are constantly on my mind.

    Love,

    Abbi B.

  26. Jule Says:

    Eddie and Martha Marie,
Just to know the power of the internet, I found out about your great physical need in a round about internet way. But God can use many means to get His people to fall on their knees in united prayer for Martha Marie. You will be immediately added to my urgent prayer list.

  27. Jeremy Summers Says:

Martha Marie…as a witness to the community of believers showering you with their love and prayers, know that you are too in our daily thoughts and prayers. May the Holy Spirit continue to give you (and Eddie) peace and strength and your doctors wisdom…and may our God, the Creator of All, receive all the Glory, Honor, and Praise!

    Much love to you both,

    -Jeremy-

Eddie and Martha Marie, Brenda and I are going to God in prayer for Martha Marie to be healed. We know first hand how God has His hand upon your lives for His service. There is a very special sensitivity that shines through you two that can grip many people with the love of Christ.

Count us as part of the army that will be praying for you.

  32. Jim & Dana Burchel Says:

There is POWER in the mulitude of prayers being sent up on your behalf, MM. You are incredibly loved by so many… a very rare & precious gem. God has you in His hands. No matter what happens, God is in control and will receive the Glory. We are radically praying & believing in His complete & total healing for you. My (D) mom always told me that when you are going through something really tough, just hold on because God is getting ready to do something wonderful & amazing! So, hold on, my friend…hold on! We love you very, very much!

    Love, Jim & Dana

  33. Annette Landis Says:

    MM & Eddie,
Have been reading your blogs. If it seems impossible to be happening to me, what must it be like for you. Our prayers are with you and our church will be praying for you as well. It just seems impossible that such a wonderful person as you MM could have to go through this, but who am I to second guess God. HE knows all and therefore knows your complete trust in HIM. Whatever he has planned will be amazing. What a great testimony to God you will have!
Love and prayers (and even doggie kisses) coming your way.
(My boxer pup is trying to help me write this. LOL Did that get a smile MM?)
    Annette
